Introduction to CBT for ST2-3 & ST4-6/Staff

About the programme...

The introduction to CBT programme is a year long course split into two components. The first component is a 20 week course (Wednesday mornings) and will be theory based learning focusing on generic and therapeutic competences, basic CBT principles and some specific CBT and problem specific competences. The programme will involve lectures, experiential and reflective learning via role plays, video work and a reflective journal. The second component is another 20 weeks of clinical practice and weekly close supervision (Wednesday mornings). Here the trainee will provide weekly CBT therapy to two clients with Axis I disorder and the therapy will be recorded on video. In order to be eligible for the second component the trainee will have reached the required level of competencies following the first component, which will be monitored and assessed throughout.

The teaching component is open to ST2-3 trainees and any spare places will be offered to GMW ST4-6/Staff. The supervised practice component is open to a maximum of 6 GMW staff - or those who have previously worked within GMW.
